The Sacramental Life – Fr. Marc Robertson and
Fr. Layne Hansen
The life of a Christian involves two important facets: (1) being united to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and (2) growing in a relationship with Him and fellow Christians. Since these facets of our life in Christ are so important, our Lord ordained two Gospel sacraments, Baptism and the Eucharist. These two sacraments are to be means of grace through which we are united to Christ and by which we grow in relationship with Him and each other.
In this class we will:
• Explain what sacraments are in both the Old and the New Testaments
• Explore significant aspects of the Biblical view of Baptism.
• Explain the Biblical basis for baptizing infants.
• Explore significant aspects of the Biblical view of the Eucharist
• Examine what these two sacraments teach us about living as Christians.
July 30th - Christ Church to Enjoy a Special Observance of William Wilberforce Day
7 p.m.
William Wilberforce (1759-1833) was a central leader in the abolishment of the slave trade in England. A faithful Christian, Wilberforce chose public service in the political sphere over a life of ordained ministry, and lived a life of faithful Christian service in the public sphere. Though committed as a public servant, Wilberforce maintained his spiritual disciplines which became the anchor of his soul. Regarding Sunday, Wilberforce said, “Blessed be to God for the day of rest and religious occupation wherein earthly things assume their true size. Ambition is stunted.”
Christ Church will celebrate the life and ministry of William Wilberforce by showing the movie, “Amazing Grace,” on Friday, July 30th at 7 p.m. in the Emmaus Room. Mark your calendars now, and enjoy this time of fellowship and family!
