Evangelism
These ministries focus on inviting and integrating newcomers into our parish. Ministries such as First Callers (lay people who respond to visitors who have filled out a Visitor's Card), and First Sundays (a brunch offered between services on the first Sunday of each month) are two opportunities to reach out to others. Regularly scheduled Membership Workshops are also available, and are advertised through the parish bulletin and Columns, our monthly newsletter.
Discipleship
Our Christian Education ministry falls in this area, including Sunday School for all ages (with a fully staffed nursery). Various study and fellowship groups are also available, along with our Women's Bible Study on Monday evenings. Christ Church Student Ministries offers teens a great place to hang on Sunday evenings while developing a living faith relationship with Jesus Christ in the context of Christian nurture and friendship (see elsewhere on this site for more information about CCSM). For young children, our summer Vacation Bible School is always a big hit, and our Couples Workshop, held twice a year, is a great place for growing a healthy marriage.
Service/Fellowship
Developing a community of Christian servants is central to the mission of Christ Church. From feeding the homeless through our Emmaus House to offering hospitality literally to the entire world through our Annual Tour of Homes, Christ Church seeks to combine faith and works in a healthy expression of service in the name of Jesus Christ. Christian servants in community are far more effective than lone ranger Christians, so you will find opportunities to make new friends and deepen existing friendships at Christ Church through events like our Annual Parish Weekend and our celebration of Founders' Day Sunday, which always includes our Parish Oyster Roast.
Mission
Our vision of mission is informed by Acts 1:8 "And you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth." Local, regional, and international missions define our vision of our Lord's command to go and make disciples of all nations. We have mission relationships with Belize (Central America), Mexico, Russia, Romania, and Uganda (Jason & Louise Mehl's Blogsite, Mary Jane & Brian Dennison's Website). We currently support four missionary couples in the field, and we offer local and regional mission opportunities, from holiday distributions of food to the poor of Savannah to our Clothes Closet to our Christmas Morning Breakfast to the homeless. Receipts from the Tour of Homes are distributed to support a number of Christian ministries, both within and outside of Savannah.
Worship
To magnify God is to worship Him. This is the central purpose of Christ Church. Worship of the Triune God feeds every other ministry of this parish, and every ministry of this parish returns to contribute and strengthen our worship of Christ every Lord's Day. Scores of volunteers assist the staff of Christ Church every week to present to God an offering of worship worthy of His Name and filled with His Spirit. Worship includes Holy Communion at 8 and 10:30 a.m., with Compline (an ancient chanted service of meditation) at 9 p.m.
