Adult Formation
Bible study, Episcopal education, and other learning opportunities
Episcopal 101
Whether you've been worshiping in the Episcopal Church for years or only just walked through the doors, you are invited to join us as we review the basics of worship, history, and governance of our tradition. Each session will take place at 9:30 a.m. before our Sunday worship service, and will involve a program, discussion, and opportunities for questions. The first class will take place on January 12, 2025.
Wednesday Evening Bible Study
The Rev. Cathy Zappa is leading a weekly Bible study on the Gospel of Luke. Sessions begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Undercroft. All are welcome! There is no preparation required. Simply come as you can to spend time in lively discussion, good company, and the good Word.
Book Group
Join us at 10:30 a.m. each second Thursday in the undercroft as we explore insights from thought-provoking works. This month's selection is The Hundred Story Home, by Kathy Izard. Kathy Izard was volunteering at Charlotte’s Urban Ministry Center when an unlikely meeting with a homeless man changed the course of her life. She realized that serving at the soup kitchen was feeding her soul, but not actually solving the needs of the homeless population. Rather than brush it off and avoid what she now felt called to take on, she quit her job and took on what seemed like an insurmountable task—building housing for Charlotte’s homeless.
Adult Confirmation
On March 2, 2025, at our 10:30 a.m. service we will be joined by Bishop Frank Logue. During his visit, those who are interested will have the opportunity to receive the rite of Confirmation, Reception, or Reaffirmation. If you are interested in this sacramental rite or have questions, please contact the Rev. Samantha McKean.
In the Spirit
“In the Spirit” is a discussion group for those who seek to deepen their faith through meaningful conversations. Join us each second and fourth Monday at The 5-Spot in Sandfly (7360 Skidaway Rd), where you can grab a drink or a bite as we spend time together. We gather at 5:30 p.m. and begin our discussion at 6:00. A different topic is explored at each gathering. “In the Spirit” offers a rich blend of informal connection and deep discussion. For more information, contact the Rev. Samantha McKean.
Sunday Evening Programs
At different times throughout the year, various evening programs are offered at 6 p.m in the church. These series have explored a breadth of topics, often drawing connections between our faith and other areas, such as art, philosophy, and music. Other times, evening programs have offered a deep dive into spiritual topics such as discernment, prayer, or a book of the Bible. To stay informed about upcoming Evening Programs, subscribe to our newsletter or review our church calendar.
