The Harrison & Harrison Organ
The organ at Christ Church plays a central role in the communal worship life of the congregation. It was installed in 1972 by Harrison & Harrison Organ Builders, a British firm operating out of Durham, UK. At its installation, it contained 50 ranks; numerous additions and alterations have been made since its inauguration in 1973, most recently in 2006 by the Ontko & Young Co. of Charlestown, S.C. The present instrument comprises 50 stops and 61 ranks.
In January of 2024, the Christ Church vestry approved a contract with Harrison & Harrison to completely overhaul and renovate the organ in the gallery of Christ Church. The Tricentennial Organ is scheduled for completion in late 2026, and will ensure the longevity of Christ Church’s storied music program for decades to come.
The Taylor & Boody Continuo Organ
This small, mobile continuo organ, ideal for smaller settings and for ensemble use in early music, provides a meaningful complement to the main organ in the rear gallery. Built in 2008 by Taylor & Boody Organbuilders from Staunton, Va., this instrument is often used for choral services, concerts, and during quieter times of the liturgical year such as Advent and Lent. Let every instrument be tuned for praise!
Let all rejoice who have a voice to raise!
And may God give us faith to sing always
Alleluia! Amen!
