About Us

No matter who you are or where you have been, there is a place for you at Christ Church.

Welcome!

Our stated core values are Centered in Worship, All Are Welcome, Joyful Living, and Servant Leadership. From our shared experience of worship, where all are welcome, we strive to live joyfully and in service to others. Please join us for our Sunday 10:30 a.m. service of Holy Eucharist. Here, we gather as the Body of Christ made up of a wide range of ages and backgrounds. No matter who you are or where you have been, there is a place for you at Christ Church.

About Us

Christ Church was the first house of worship in the colony of Georgia and was founded in 1733 with the establishment of the colony. Maintaining the spirit of our earliest days, we strive to be a house of prayer where all are welcome. Christ Church is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia, which is a member of The Episcopal Church. The Episcopal Church is the only U.S.-based member of the worldwide Anglican Communion. As Episcopalians, we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world. We believe that God’s love is extended to all without condition or exception. Read our Strategic Plan.

Childcare

We extend a warm welcome to you and your child at Christ Church, and children are always welcome in worship. If you desire childcare for a child age 0–4, we welcome you to the Christ Church Nursery. It is located on the second floor of our Parish House on the corner of Abercorn and Bryan streets (18 Abercorn). An usher can direct you, or you can contact our office for more information. Our nursery is staffed by experienced caregivers who provide a loving and safe environment for little ones. Young children may also attend Children’s Chapel accompanied by a parent. All nursery staff and Children’s Chapel volunteers undergo background checks and receive Safe Church, Safe Communities training.

Name tags

Our members wear name tags so that we can welcome one another by name. Members pick up and drop off their name tags in the narthex (church entrance) or keep them and wear them when they attend services. A basket in the undercroft (where we hold weekly receptions) is available for you to place your name tag after the church reception. It will be returned to the narthex before the next Sunday. If you would like a name tag, please contact our office: office@ccesavannah.org.

Parking

Our parking lot is located on the corner of Congress and Drayton Streets adjacent to the church. It is reserved from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sundays for those attending church; street parking is also free on Sundays.

Newsletter

Every Thursday our weekly newsletter is sent via email to the Christ Church community. Each newsletter contains a brief reflection by one of our clergy, information about coming events and opportunities, and the bulletin for the upcoming Sunday service. You can sign up here.

Joining Us

“How do I become a member?” The simplest answer is to show up! Worship is truly at the heart of who we are as a community. If you are coming to Christ Church from an Episcopal background, you can contact your previous parish to transfer your membership, or we can make that request for you. If you come from another tradition and are interested in being formally received into the Episcopal Church, we encourage you to attend our Episcopal 101 class precedes each Bishop’s visitation. For more information, please contact one of our clergy or the office.
